The West Indies Cricket Board last Tuesday announced that mystery off-spinner Sunil Narine has withdrawn from the West Indies squad for the World Cup 2015.

Narine was instrumental in Trinidad & Tobago Red Force winning the Nagico Super50  tournament last Sunday  against Guyana with an unbroken eight-over spell taking six wickets for nine runs but Narine admitted that he was not completely confident about returning to international cricket.

He decided to give himself more time to work on his bowling action, reported as suspect in successive matches during last year’s Champions League T20 in India, where he played for Kolkata Knight Riders.

The West Indies Cricket Board supports Narine’s decision to withdraw from the World Cup squad as to risk his exposure to the intensity of the Cricket World Cup would be both unfair to him and the West Indies squad. A replacement for Narine will be named shortly, according to the WICB.
