Kiddie Mas at Malvern Mall

Children’s Mas at Malvern Mall

The children came out in full force and in costume to play Mas at noon at the Malvern Town Centre.  Kiddies from all of the competitive Mas bands taking part in this year’s Toronto Junior Carnival Parade danced and modeled in the courtyard inside the mall. They performed in front of a bank of TV cameras and cheering shoppers!

The Faces of the 2019 Caribbean Carnival Festival, Joel Davis (aka Calypso singer Connector) and Nadelle Lewis stopped by the media launch to give encouragement and media tips to the children!

There are two big items on the calendar for the Kids, the first is the Junior King and Queen Showcase in the Malvern Town Centre Parking Lot on July 14th.  From 2pm to 8pm children wearing elaborate costumes will compete to see who will be King and Queen for 2019.

The next big event is the July 20th  Junior Carnival Parade and Family Day, which will see thousands of children’s in costume playing Mas along Neilson Road in Malvern and taking part in the after-parade Family Day fete in nearby Neilson Park.

The Family Day fete includes free entertainment and children activities. Of note this year is a Calypso performance by Trinidad’s Junior Calypso Monarch Aaron Duncan.  Also, Grace Foods will be staging its annual Junior Chef competition in the Park.
