York9 FC continued its steady climb up the Canadian Premier League table with two scoreless draws on June 19 and June 22.

For the third week in a row, York9 faced Edmonton FC on a Wednesday evening, but this time, in League play with 3 points at stake. York9 started with confidence in the first half, but was unable to put the ball past Eddies goalkeeper Connor James, who made three saves. In the second half, Edmonton’s Bruno Zebie showed their team had learnt from the three headers that York9 had scored on June 5 by calmly clearing Manny Aparicio’s header off the line.

FC Edmonton had their chances as well in the second half but could not score. Oumar Diouck sliced a shot wide from near the penalty spot, before Randy Edwini-Bonsu blasted a hard shot from outside the box straight into the arms of the York9 keeper.

York9 played the HFX Wanderers on June 22 to continue their busy end to the spring season on July 1st. York managed two shots on target in the first half, which was better than Halifax’s zero. In the second half, both teams’ strikers traded chances but failed to score, with Y9’s Rodrigo Gattas and the Wanderers Tomasz Skublak forcing saves out of the goalkeepers.

As of March 25, York9 is in a four way tie in the Canadian Premier League table with HFX Wanderers, FC Edmonton, Pacific FC on eight points. York9 plays league leaders Calvary FC at home on Wednesday night and third place Valour FC on Canada Day to end the Spring Season.
