The Trinidad and Tobago Heritage Group held Cuttin’ Style, a fashion show celebrating T&T fashion, at the Delta Hotel in Scarborough last Saturday to mark the country’s 51 anniversary of Independence. Our Gerard Richardson was there to bring back some of the designs that were on show from leading fashion designers such as Claudia Pegus, Robert Young, Zadd and Eastman and more. The show was followed by a black-tie gala which was sold out, and a great time was had by all. The T&T Independence fun continues on Saturday with an Independence celebration at the Sharon Masonic Temple, 20124 Laslie Street (Hwy 404 north to Green Lane to Leslie North). The event will feature reigning Toronto Calypso Monarch Macomere Fifi, Beginner, Connector and gospel singer Miss JD, along with LA Rhythms, DJ Bad Lad and more. There will be carnival costumes on display from Louis Saldenah, Jamaal Magloire and Whitfield Belasco. Admission is free and the fun starts at 12 noon.
