The recently formed Coalition of African Peoples and Allies (ACOAPAA) will host its inaugural Black History Month launch on February 27 at the Woodbine Convention Centre in Toronto.
Ken Jeffers, president and founder of ACOAPAA, noted that this gathering is especially significant during a time of global transition, when issues of equity, inclusion, and justice continue to demand our collective attention.
“We commend the past, prolific achievements of Black organizations sixty years ago that have laid the foundation that needs to be recognized, revisited, and applied accordingly to the current situation, “said Jeffers.
“Through Black History Month launch in these times of global crises, ACOAPAA seeks to share these important stories, reflect on lessons learned, and examine why some of these hard-earned gains have not been fully sustained,” he pointed out.
“We recognize the urgent need to strengthen research, documentation, and community collaboration as essential tools for maintaining progress and shaping a more equitable future,” Jeffers added.
