The much-awaited event, #AFWT2023, is all set to deliver an unforgettable celebration of culture, creativity, and style.
Scheduled from August 25th to August 27th, 2023, the eleventh edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT) is a rendezvous of arts, culture, fashion, style, achievements, and diversity. Established by the African Fashion Canada Organization in 2012, AFWT has evolved into the fastest-growing and most prominent platform for African fashion creatives and enthusiasts in Canada.
The excitement kicks off on Friday, August 25th, as Yonge Dundas Square transforms into a haven of fashion and diversity. Starting at 1:00 pm, the square will host local vendors, offering them an invaluable opportunity to expand their businesses within the Toronto community. The highlight of the day commences at 4:00 pm with the AFWT runway show, featuring over 20 high fashion designers from both Canada and abroad. This premium showcase at the Square is free of charge and promises a visual treat of awe-inspiring collections.
Caribelle Batik of St Kitts is set to steal the spotlight with its renowned batik products crafted from quality fabrics, including the exclusive sea island cotton. The brand, which originated in 1976, utilizes ancient Indonesian techniques to create these distinctive and enduring pieces that have become the Caribbean’s most sought-after batik textiles. Another Caribbean talent to watch out for is Zadd and Eastman.


Hailing from South Trinidad, their innovative designs have graced celebrities like Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child and Grammy-winning artist Dottie Peoples. Their fusion of traditional and contemporary techniques has established them as pioneers of cutting-edge Caribbean fashion.
Saturday, August 26th, brings forth the King of Couture, Adebayo Jones, offering an unparalleled Couture Experience at Golive TV Studios. The reception begins at 5:00 pm, followed by the couture show at 7:00 pm, promising an evening of opulence and sophistication.
Closing the #AFWT2023 on Sunday, August 27th, is the Lookbook Day Party, a stylish occasion to mingle with industry influencers while enjoying the beats of Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, Hip-hop, and more. The event will be held at Spaces Toronto: Loft + Rooftop Patio, with doors opening at 3:00 pm and the party kicking off at 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
