The Caribbean paradise of Antigua and Barbuda is gearing up for another impressive year in 2025, building on a strong 2024 season that saw a significant increase in Canadian visitors. Thanks to the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s efforts, the islands’ tourism industry has thrived, bringing new infrastructure, exclusive hotel offerings, and immersive experiences.

Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to tourism can be seen in the recent opening of Barbuda’s new airport, which started operations on October 3, 2024. This extended, LED-studded runway improves connectivity, providing easier access to Barbuda’s pristine beaches. Meanwhile, an ambitious runway resurfacing and expansion project at V.C. Bird International Airport, starting in late 2024, promises to make traveling even more seamless for visitors. The upcoming cruise terminal at Heritage Quay, breaking ground this fall, will further elevate the country’s port facilities, aiming to cater to a growing number of cruise passengers.

Several major hotel developments are set to redefine luxury accommodation on the islands. Sandals Grande Antigua has embarked on a two-year renovation of both its Mediterranean and Caribbean villages. In Barbuda, the high-end Nobu Beach Club will begin construction in early 2025, while Nikki Beach Resort & Spa plans to transform the former Tranquility Bay site into a $400 million luxury destination. The celebrated Hermitage Bay also reopened this year, showcasing fully redesigned villas, a beach club, private pools, and a revitalized spa experience.

Visitors can also look forward to unique tours and attractions across the islands. Chukka Caribbean Adventures will unveil an eco-adventure at Fort Barrington, immersing guests in Antigua’s rich history and natural beauty. The Academy of Rum, located on scenic Galleon Beach, offers hands-on master classes in rum-making, while Antilles Stillhouse provides guided tours and tastings at its hillside distillery overlooking English Harbour. For a deep dive into local culture, The Great House Antigua’s Heritage Package presents an interactive experience with traditional crafting, cooking classes, and rum-tasting.
Dining options will also expand in 2025, with private island dining experiences at The Reef and The Hut Little Jumby, promising exclusive culinary adventures. For those eager to plan a trip, direct flights from Air Canada, WestJet, and Sunwing will make the journey easy and accessible.
With a range of new developments and visitor experiences, Antigua and Barbuda is poised to make 2025 a year to remember, inviting travelers to discover its unique blend of luxury, culture, and natural beauty.
