The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation has wrapped up a cross-country sales mission in Canada aimed at boosting travel between the two nations ahead of the busy winter season.
From October 6 to 9, Bahamian tourism officials met with travel advisers, tour operators, airline representatives, and media in Ottawa, Halifax, and Calgary. The initiative promoted new direct flights and expanded access to the islands while showcasing Bahamian culture through trade events and presentations.
The delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism I. Chester Cooper and Director General Latia Duncombe, underscored the importance of the Canadian market to The Bahamas. Cooper said the mission focused on connecting directly with Canadian travel industry partners to highlight improved air service and convenience for travelers across the country.

Duncombe noted that the meetings were designed to strengthen relationships and ensure that new flight capacity translates into more visitors. She said Canada remains one of The Bahamas’ most valued tourism markets and that the outreach would help position the islands as a leading destination for Canadian travelers during the upcoming winter and beyond.
The Bahamas is set to see a significant increase in airlift from Canada this season, with 45 weekly flights scheduled to link major Canadian cities with Nassau and other islands. Air Canada will introduce new nonstop services from Ottawa and Halifax to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport beginning December 5, 2025, and continuing through April 10, 2026. The airline will maintain daily service from Toronto to Nassau and resume seasonal flights from Montreal during the summer of 2026. Air Canada Vacations will also operate weekly service from Toronto to Exuma between November 2025 and April 2026.
Porter Airlines announced a new nonstop route from Montreal to Nassau beginning February 3, 2026, expanding on recently launched services from Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton. Sunwing Vacations is extending its Toronto–Grand Bahama route to year-round operation and will continue weekly Montreal–Grand Bahama flights on Saturdays.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism said the expanded flight network reflects the islands’ growing appeal among Canadians and provides travelers with greater choice for quick getaways.
The Bahamas comprises more than 700 islands and cays, 16 of which are distinct tourism destinations. Just 50 miles from Florida, the archipelago offers world-class diving, fishing, boating, and beaches that continue to attract visitors from around the world.
Officials said the Canadian tour not only showcased enhanced connectivity but also deepened partnerships that will strengthen The Bahamas’ presence in the Canadian market for years to come.
