Barbadian lawyer replaces president of Commonwealth Games Federation on executive board over diversity issue

          Sandra Osborne

Sandra Osborne, president of the Barbados Olympics Association,  will replace  Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) President Louise Martin on the organizing  committee for the Commonwealth Games 2020 to be held in Birmingham, England,

Dame Louise resigned from  the  Birmingham  2020 Board following concerns about its lack of diversity

The Games’ organising committee has been criticised for having an almost entirely white executive management team and board.

Local politicians wanted more black and ethnic minority members to better reflect Birmingham’s ethnic diversity.

Osborne, a sports lawyer, sits on the executive board  of the CGF as its legal adviser and chairs its governance and integrity committee.

The CGF said Martin would continue to play an “active role in the supporting preparations” for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
