In an inspiring display of community spirit and international solidarity, the Barbados Canada Foundation is spearheading a fundraising initiative, “Bring On The Spring 2024,” aimed at supporting the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Barbados. With the event scheduled for April 13th, the foundation is in a race against time to sell tickets and gather donations before the April 8th deadline.

The goal of this year’s event is to raise $65,000 to purchase three Patient Transport Monitors for the QEH. These crucial devices are used to monitor patients’ vital signs during transport within the hospital, ensuring their safety and well-being. The QEH, Barbados’ only acute care hospital, is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary later this year, making the timing of the donation even more significant.

Phil Broome, Chair and President of the Barbados Canada Foundation, emphasized the importance of the fundraiser: “By supporting ‘Bring On The Spring 2024,’ you’re not just attending an event; you’re contributing to a vital cause that will save lives and improve healthcare in Barbados. Every ticket purchased, every dollar donated, brings us closer to our goal.”

The event promises to be a memorable evening, hosted by actress Kathy Maloney, with Sir Patterson Cheltenham, Chief Justice of Barbados, as the guest speaker. Attendees can look forward to an evening of fine dining, entertainment, and the chance to win exciting prizes in the raffle and auctions. Prizes include a 5-night stay at the Rostrevor Hotel, a round-trip economy ticket to Barbados on Air Canada, and passes to Harrison’s Cave Park, among other luxurious accommodations at Barbados resort hotels.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online or through e-transfer to the Barbados Canada Foundation. For those opting for e-transfer, a separate email with the donor’s mailing address is required to facilitate the issuance of a tax receipt.

The foundation is calling on the community to rally behind this cause, inviting everyone to attend the event and to spread the word to family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. “Your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of patients at the QEH,” Broome stated.
