Barbados Prime Minister to speak at memorial dinner in Toronto

Barbados Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will be the keynote speaker at the tenth annual Errol Barrow memorial dinner to be held at The Estate Banquet and Event Centre in Scarborough on Saturday September 23.

(Errol ” Dipper” Barrow was the first prime minister of Barbados. He founded the Democratic Labour Party and became its leader in 1958.

Barrow served as premier of Bartbados from 1961 to 1966 when, after leading the country to Independence from Britain, he became prime minister.)

The dinner is organized by the  Canadian branch of the  Barbados Democratic Labour Party (DLP),

Prime Minister Stuart, in  his address, will be highlighting some of the achievements of the party in government and, according to a news release, will  “share his plans to put Barbados first as a new mandate is sought in elections within the next nine months.”

The prime minister will present awards to several “outstanding members ” of the party in Canada.

Headliners of the entertainment program at the event will be the newly appointed Cultural Ambassador for Barbados, Stedson “Red Plastic Bag” Wiltshire, and Lil Rick, the 2017 Barbados Soca Monarch.

DJ’s Phase 4 Sound Crew will provide music for “after dinner dancing.”

DLP Barbados (Canada) was founded in August 2007 by a group of Barbadians living in Ontario and Quebec.
