Barbados provides unique flavour to Markham Jazz Fest with saxophonist Elan Trotman

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. will be a presence at the TD Markham Jazz Festival slated to hit the stage from Saturday, August 19 to Sunday, August 20. The festival’s main stage (Millenium Bandstand) will feature the renowned Barbadian saxophonist, Elan Trotman, in what is expected to be a captivating performance on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 pm EST. He will be accompanied by a talented five-piece band led by another Barbadian artist, bassist Marius Charlemagne.

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. will also host a booth on Saturday, August 19, and Sunday, August 20, at the Varley Art Gallery on Main St, Unionville. Visitors to the booth can enjoy the rhythm of a live Barbadian saxophonist, take home branded giveaways, and get a chance to win a fabulous trip to Barbados.

Barbados has a rich musical heritage, boasting a diverse range of rhythms from Soca and Calypso to reggae and dancehall – music that resonate throughout the island all year long. The TD Markham Jazz Festival echoes the jazz celebrations held annually in October during the Barbados Jazz Excursion and Golf Weekend, now in its 8th year. The Jazz Excursion and Golf Weekend, hosted by Elan Trotman, attracts jazz enthusiasts from around the world who come to Barbados to experience a series of concerts, island excursions, and celebrity golf events that support local music charities.
