BCA celebrates 57th Barbados independence with grand gala
The Barbados Canada Association (BCA) is gearing up for a celebration of Barbados’ 57th year of independence at the 2023 Barbados Independence Gala set to take place on November 25th, at The Estate Banquet & Event Centre in Scarborough, Ontario
Themed ‘Uniting the Diaspora to Build a Better Tomorrow,’ the event marks a return to an in-person format, aiming to bring the community together and engage all generations of diasporans. The evening will be filled with culture, entertainment, and community spirit.
Guests can look forward to a culinary experience, including a sit-down dinner, hors d’oeuvres, and a sweet table featuring beloved Bajan treats. Attendees will have a chance to win a return trip to Barbados, courtesy of Marville Travel Ltd. Additionally, a raffle and silent auction will provide opportunities to win other fantastic prizes.
Entertainment highlights include DJ Phase 4, winners of ‘Bim’s Got Talent,’ and headliners MADD, known for their hit songs ‘I Want My Mudda’ and ‘Cheese Cutter Wine.’ MADD will entertain with comedic skits and calypso music, ensuring an unforgettable night.
Proceeds from the gala will support disaster management in Barbados through a partnership with the Department of Emergency Management (DEM). Past contributions have stocked an emergency bin for disaster relief.
Generous sponsors include Marville Travel Ltd, Merit Insurance Brokers Inc., Morningside Nissan, Sandals Barbados, and Club Barbados.
The BCA extends an invitation to the Greater Toronto Area Barbadian community, the Caribbean diaspora, and beyond, to celebrate Barbados’ 57th Independence in style. The gala begins at 6:00 PM.
