The new rendition features adjustments to reflect current players and boasts a revamped mix for a more contemporary sound. Pemberton confessed that this project marked the quickest turnaround in his career, with the song being written, recorded, and set for release within a matter of days.

Fans have eagerly embraced the new anthem, viewing it as a source of excitement and camaraderie during the playoff run. Pemberton expressed his hope that the song would become a fixture at Oilers’ games, igniting enthusiasm among supporters.

Reflecting on the genesis of the original song in 2017, Pemberton explained that he was inspired by the fervent energy surrounding the team, particularly with the arrival of star player Connor McDavid. McDavid himself has heard the anthem and acknowledged it, adding to the excitement surrounding its release.

The new anthem includes a reference to the Oilers’ last Stanley Cup final appearance in 2006, a nostalgic nod to the team’s historic journey. Pemberton, reminiscing about that time, shared his anticipation for reliving the excitement of a championship run while ensuring safety amidst the festivities.

Despite living in the Toronto area, Pemberton’s allegiance to the Oilers remains steadfast, with fans in Hamilton, Ontario, sharing his enthusiasm. He teased a potential visit to Edmonton to perform the new anthem, hinting at plans for a music video shoot during his trip.

As the Oilers vie for the Stanley Cup, Pemberton envisions joining the victory parade, ensuring that his anthem becomes an indelible part of the celebration should they emerge triumphant.
