Calypso came alive last Saturday night as Organization of Calypso Performing Arts (OCPA0 staged its first Calypso Tent, marking a significant moment in Toronto Caribbean Carnival calendar.
Since the pandemic, the calypso tent receded into the background as it was with all such activities. An even though OCPA stage a Calypso Monarch Competition last year, they expect that this calypso tent series, which leads to the Calypso Monarch Competition on Sunday 28th July at the East Town Banquet Hall at 2624 Eglinton Ave, Scarborough.
Before that semi – finals will be held this Sunday 14th at Spade Lounge, 3580 McNicoll Ave, Scarborough, to decide who will be selected to go to the finals.
If what obtained at last Saturday’s tent is an indication of what is to come, then the kaiso season will be a most enjoyable one.
