Canada offspinner Nikhil Dutta has been awarded a contract to play for St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the Hero Caribbean Premier League which started last Saturday in Barbados.

Dutta, 20, represented Canada Under-15, Americas Under-15, Canada Under-19, ICC Americas Under-19 and most recently represented Canada in the just-concluded ICC Americas Division One Tweny20 tournament in Indianapolis where he was the leading wicket taker.

Kuwait-born Dutta made his One-Day International debut for Canada against Kenya in March 2013.

Dutta, who plays for OCA / Overseas Cricket Club and Academy in the Elite Division of the Toronto District Cricket Association League, was selected to represent Canada in the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier which will be staged in Ireland and Scotland in July.

In the opening match of the Hero Caribbean Premier League, defending champions Barbados Trident defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors by 49 runs. The second game in St. Lucia between St. Lucia Zouks and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel was abandoned due to rain. The tournament continues.
