The ceremony, scheduled for Friday, June 12 at Toronto Stadium, will begin 90 minutes before kick-off as Canada welcomes fans from around the world for the country’s first home FIFA World Cup match involving the Canadian Men’s National Team.

FIFA has assembled an impressive lineup of internationally recognized performers to headline the Canadian celebration. Among those expected to appear are Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Elyanna, Vegedream, William Prince and music producer Sanjoy.

Organizers say the performances will reflect the diversity and multicultural identity of Canada while linking celebrations taking place across the tournament’s three host nations, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The event is being produced in collaboration with Balich Wonder Studio, the internationally known creative production company behind several major global ceremonies and live entertainment spectacles.

Central to the Canadian presentation will be a mosaic-inspired interpretation of the FIFA World Cup Trophy, designed to symbolize the many cultures, communities and identities that make up modern Canada. FIFA says the ceremony will also take viewers on a visual journey across the country, highlighting Canada “from coast to coast to coast” while emphasizing themes of unity, belonging and celebration.

“This will be a powerful reflection of Canada’s identity and the energy surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Gianni Infantino in a statement released by FIFA. He described the production as “a moment of pride, unity and anticipation” as Canada takes its place on football’s grandest stage.

Fans attending the match are being encouraged to arrive early, as stadium gates will open four hours before kickoff. FIFA says supporters can expect fan activations, entertainment experiences and interactive elements leading up to the ceremony itself.

The opening match in Toronto will see Canada men’s national soccer team take on Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team in what is expected to be one of the most significant moments in Canadian football history.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will feature 104 matches across 16 host cities throughout North America, beginning June 11 in Mexico City and concluding with the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.
