Canada’s Walk of Fame RBC Emerging Musician Program, now in its 12th year, celebrates its anniversary by opening submissions for its 2024 edition. Supported by the RBC Foundation, this program has become a cornerstone for aspiring Canadian musical talents, having nurtured 65 artists to date. The initiative offers over $100,000 in prizes annually, with five emerging solo artists or groups selected to receive support.
Open to musicians aged 15 to 35, the Program serves as a gateway to the music industry, providing mentorship from esteemed artists, recording time at Metalworks Studios, career development assistance, funding, and national performance opportunities. Winners from the previous year will perform at the Rivoli in Toronto during Canadian Music Week on June 5, 2024, with free admission and registration available online.
Josh Alexander, last year’s Grand Prize winner, hails the program as transformative, remarking on the myriad opportunities it has unlocked for him. This year, the Grand Prize winner will receive a $20,000 cash prize, performance slots at key Canada’s Walk of Fame events, and a private studio session at Metalworks Studios. Additionally, the runner-up will be awarded $10,000, with three other artists receiving $5,000 each.
All winners will gain access to various career development opportunities, including showcasing at Canadian Music Week 2025, performing at Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg, a mentorship session with industry luminaries, financial support for a live-off-the-floor performance video, and a dedicated artist page on EmergingMusician.ca.
