Caribana Arts Group (CAG) President Chedwick Crieghtney confirmed to the Caribbean Camera that Caribana Ignite is returning to Waterloo this summer as CAG’s flagship festival for 2025. “Yes, we can confirm Ignite is coming back to the Waterloo region this August,” Crieghtney said, echoing a recent announcement by Waterloo CTV News.

Caribana Ignite—a lively celebration of Caribbean culture—features bold costumes, catchy beats, and flavorful food. In addition to the carnival and parade, CAG is planning several other exciting events as part of its strategy, including a golf tournament, a fashion show, and possibly a Caribbean cruise.
This year’s Caribana promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festivities will kick off with a Family Glow Party on Friday, August 22 at 6 p.m., followed by the Grand Parade on Saturday, August 23 at 11 a.m. in downtown Kitchener. Last year marked a historic moment when Kitchener hosted the festival for the first time outside Toronto in its 55-year history.
“We are thrilled to bring Caribana Ignite back to our community, showcasing the rich Caribbean heritage and offering a wide range of events for all ages,” Crieghtney added.
The city has called out to everyone to “Join us this summer for an unforgettable celebration of culture, music, and community spirit as Ignite lights up the Waterloo region once again.”
