Carnival Nationz introduces innovative Metaverse app at Lil Nations launch

Lil Nations

Carnival Nationz captivated an audience of around 200 attendees at their mas camp on Military Trail when it revealed Lil Nationz’s 2024 theme, “Metaverse – Gamification.” This pioneering concept integrates cutting-edge technology with traditional carnival elements, promising an unparalleled experience.

Central to the unveiling was the new Carnival Nationz app, a platform enabling users to create avatars, buy costumes, and socialize in a virtual environment. During the launch, children demonstrated the app’s interactive features by hunting for a virtual teddy bear, earning prizes in the process. Carnival Nationz claims to be the first band globally to utilize such advanced technology for carnival, enhancing engagement beyond physical festivities.

Established in 2005, Carnival Nationz has consistently been a top contender in the Toronto children’s Caribbean Carnival, with six Band of the Year titles, five second-place finishes, and two third-place accolades. Lil Nationz, their junior division, has also achieved significant success, winning the Junior Band of the Year title six times, placing second five times, and third twice.

The 2024 theme, “Metaverse – Gamification,” invites participants into a network of shared virtual worlds. This immersive experience is designed to connect and educate through music, dance, and culture. The theme is divided into nine sections:

Guardians of the Metaverse; Power Girls; Hololand Avatars; A Ripple in Time; Meta’s Fashion Famous; Immersive; Soca Kingdom; Avengers of Carnival; and Metamagic.
