Connector, E.P.I.C Carnival launch third annual toy drive

By Stephen Weir

As the holiday season approaches, Canadian Calypso singing star Joel Davis and the E.P.I.C Carnival mas band are coming together to connect the children with the joys of Christmas. Davis (the Connector) and E.P.I.C are hard at work organizing the coming third annual Toy Drive and Children’s Holiday Party. This festive event promises to bring smiles to the faces of young ones and create lasting holiday memories.

The highlight of this initiative is the Children’s Holiday Party scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 4th, 2022, at the Twilight Family Restaurant (55 Nugget Ave) from 1 pm to 4 pm in Scarborough.

To make this holiday season extra special for those in need, the Toy Drive kicks off on November 14th and will run until the day of the Children’s Holiday Party. Individuals interested in contributing to the Toy Drive can arrange for collections through text or drop off their donations at the Canada Black Owned Marketplace, conveniently located in the Bramalea City Centre. Additionally, for parents who would like their child to attend and receive a gift at the party, they should contact EPIC’s Jerrol Augustine by phone or text at (416) 618 – 1302.

“I am a person who grew up never experiencing the Christmas tradition of gift-giving,” said Joel Davis. “Now that I am here in Canada, I want to reach and help the kids receive a gift (and have some fun) this Christmas season.”

“The Season for Giving is not just about material gifts,” continued the Connector, “it’s about giving joy, creating beautiful memories, and coming together as a community. We will be having games, food, and fun! We are thrilled to once again organize this Toy Drive and Children’s Holiday Party in partnership with E.P.I.C Carnival, and we look forward to the generosity of our community members.”

For those wishing to contribute or attend, further details and registration forms can be obtained by reaching out to the organizers, says an EPIC spokesman. “Let’s make this holiday season unforgettable for the children in our community!”
