435 representatives from 56 nations participated, a figure that once again broke the record of participating countries

In the most difficult circumstances, Cuba will always try to make its greatest celebration of literature a possible celebration.
This will of the State was endorsed, in Santiago de Cuba, at the closing of the 32nd edition of the International Book Fair, attended by more than 2,200,000 people.
Juan Rodríguez Cabrera, president of the Cuban Book Institute, expressed his recognition to those who “were able to overcome obstacles to give the Cuban family this celebration of the arts, which is reaffirmed every year as the largest cultural event in the country”.
He stressed that “nothing has been able to prevent the materialization of an extensive program and the attendance of the people, the main recipient of this enormous effort that stands as a legitimate son of the ideas of the one who lives today more than ever among us: our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz”.
He did not overlook one of the most important anniversaries to be celebrated in 2024, the “65th anniversary of the founding of the National Printing House of Cuba, a date that began the organization of the Cuban publishing system, an unprecedented event in our cultural history and a special motivation to congratulate writers, editors, booksellers, designers, translators, producers, printers, and all those linked to this beautiful achievement, only made possible by the work of the Revolution,” he said.
It was reported that 435 representatives from 56 nations participated in the Fair, a figure that once again breaks the record of countries present at the festival, a true act of “solidarity and trust” in our country. More than 6,200 literary and artistic activities were carried out; and more than 1,000 physical and digital literary novelties were presented.
The Cuba-digital project, aimed mainly at children and young people, offered more than 2,000 titles.
