After a decade of delighting audiences with her unique brand of Jamaican comedy, the beloved Delcita, portrayed by actress Andrea “Delcita” Wright, is back and better than ever. This time, she is bringing her hit play “The Real Wife” to Brampton, along with a dynamic cast, including her daughter and stage veteran Trudy Campbell.
Following two successful shows in Toronto during the Easter weekend, where audiences were captivated despite a few technical glitches, Delcita is ready to bring the laughter to Brampton. By popular demand, “The Real Wife” will be performed at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre on 349 Vodden St. E. The venue promises to provide an excellent setting for this highly anticipated event.

In an interview, Wright shared her excitement about returning to Brampton and performing for the community. “The audience in Toronto was fantastic. They loved the show, and the energy was incredible. We had some challenges with sound and lighting, but overall, it was a great experience,” she said.
This production of “The Real Wife” holds special significance as it marks the Canadian stage debut of Wright’s daughter, Dreanna Williams. At 21 years old and standing six feet three inches tall, Williams is not only following in her mother’s footsteps but also breaking new ground. A university student in her third year at the University of Technology in Jamaica, Dreanna studies quantity surveying. “I’m so proud to introduce her to the stage here in Canada,” Wright said. “She’s showing tall people out there that they can take to the stage as well.”
The play also stars Trudy Campbell, a seasoned actress with over 30 years of experience in theater. Campbell’s addition to the cast adds a layer of depth and expertise, making the show even more compelling. “Trudy and I together have over 60 years of experience in theater,” Wright noted. “Her presence brings a dynamic energy to the performance.”
“The Real Wife” explores the lives of a Nigerian and Jamaican power couple, Sindy and Bobby, and their emotionally unstable daughter, Sharon, who dreams of becoming the world’s happiest child. The play features a smooth-talking lawyer and a loud-mouthed paralegal, Delcita, who navigates the complexities of custody battles and relationship entanglements. Written by Andrea Wright, the play promises a comedic rollercoaster with engaging plot twists and an array of memorable characters.
As Delcita prepares for her Brampton performance, she looks forward to connecting with the local community. “I love performing for the people of Brampton,” she said. “Their support and enthusiasm mean the world to me.”
Following the London and Brampton shows, the cast will head to New York, continuing their tour and spreading laughter along the way.
