Devo Brown announces departure from Breakfast Television

Mark March 27th on the calendar and make sure to turn on Breakfast Television (CITY TV) to catch Devo Brown on the studio couch for the last time after more than eight years.
Brown, the only Black morning talk show host at City TV, has announced he is leaving the show. The program’s longtime entertainment correspondent, shared the surprising news during last Thursday’s live broadcast.
“This is a day I didn’t think would ever happen,” Brown said. “It is completely surreal. I will be leaving BT. My last day will be March 27. This was my decision — one that’s been a battle in my mind for months.”

The Toronto-born broadcaster said he has reached a turning point in his career and does not want to live with unanswered “what ifs.”
“You don’t want regrets. That’s for anybody,” he said. “There are opportunities I want to consider and explore — both at home, in the United States, and across the world. Now is the time to do it,” he wrote on social media.
Brown’s departure marks the end of an eight-year run on Breakfast Television and a broadcasting career spanning more than two decades. He began on radio, spending over ten years behind the mic, most notably at Flow 93.5 and KiSS 92.5 in Toronto. His energetic style, deep knowledge of entertainment, and strong connection to urban music audiences made him a familiar voice across the city.
During Thursday’s emotional announcement, Brown reflected on his time with the program and paid tribute to his colleagues. “This team … we’ve had quite the thrilling ride,” he said. “I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the support, the conversations, the laughs, and the tears.”
Brown called the decision to leave “a crazy, sad time” but stressed he is excited about what comes next. “I’m happy. I’m stoked about my next adventures,” he said. “This is not a goodbye — it’s a see you later. I love everyone here at Breakfast Television.”
Dina Pugliese, who returned to the show last year after stepping away in 2023, spoke warmly about her colleague, calling Brown “a brother to us in so many ways.” She also praised him for making the decision on his own terms. “It’s brave to do that in your own time,” she added.
Brown told viewers he hopes his move inspires others to pursue their full potential and embrace change.
“I’m that person that always looks to keep moving forward,” he said. “This is a dream job. It is. But what else can I do? That’s where I’m at. I don’t want to look back in 10 years and think, ‘What if I tried doing that? What would have happened?’”
As Brown signed off on Thursday, his message was one of possibility, not ending. “This is not a goodbye,” he repeated. “It’s a see you later.”
