
Cameron Bailey, Chief Executive Officer, and Artistic Director of The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will deliver the keynote address at “Together We Rise Durham: Excellence Through the Arts”, a special event to be held at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa on February 2 to celebrate Black History Month.
The event will feature the work of several local artists. Among the performers will be singer Leah Samuels, steel pannist Rashanna Cumberbatch, spoken word poet Greg Frankson, author Nadine Williams and the Afiwi Performing Collective.
Hosting the event will be the Regional Municipality of Durham in partnership with Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), City of Pickering, Municipality of Clarington, Canadian Jamaican Club of Oshawa, The Power to Be International, Congress of Black Women – Oshawa/Whitby and DurhamOne.
