England opened their tour of the Caribbean with a 50-over warm-up match against the University of the West Indies Chancellor”s XI last Tuesday, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The visitors after compiling 290 for 8 wickets restricted the Vice Chancellor”s XI to 261 for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. England middle-order batsman Joe Root struck an unbeaten 104 as the visitors wrapped a 29- run win.

Legspinner Akeem Dewar took 3 for 67 in his 10 overs while Raymon Reifer picked up 2 for 46 in his 8 overs. UWI Vice Chancellor”s XI in reply scored 261 for 7 wickets in their 50 overs with Kyle Corbin scoring a brilliant century 105.
Wicketkeeper Devon Thomas made 40 and opener Adrian Barath scored 32. James Tredwell took 3 for 39 and Stuart Broad took 2 for 40. The first ODI between the West Indies and England starts this Friday, at the Sir Vivian Richards
Stadium in Antigua, the second and third will be played on Sunday, March 02nd and Wednesday, March 05 at the same venue. The teams will travel to Barbados after to participate in three T20I”s at the Kensington Oval.
