Hundreds of people from the Caribbean community) got together at Masyrktown Park in Scarborough on Sunday for an annual event which attendees say has become a community institution.
It was Dr. Sheridan Cyrus’ family picnic but this get-together was not just for the family of Dr. Cyrus, the Grenada-born dentist, well known in the Greater Toronto Area.
As in former years, it was a gathering of his patients’ families and friends as well as members of his staff.
Dr. Cyrus who has been practicing dentistry in Toronto for 28 years, told the Caribbean Camera that he started the picnic back in 2005 ” to say ‘thank you’ to my patients for their support and loyalty”
“We have the picnic in July of each year It’s usually held on the second Sunday of the month.,” he noted.
This year’s theme focused on Canada 150th ( anniversary of Confederation), he said.
Catering for the picnic at which more than 700 people were present, was Island Spice Restaurant in Scarborough
Entertainment for the” younger set” included popcorn making, face painting and bouncing castles.
