George Brown College (GBC) is set to begin the academic year with an engaging Orientation Week. The week will feature a standout attraction at the St. James campus: a distinctive Lock Installation crafted by a team of four skilled female welders.
The installation, which symbolizes new students’ commitment to their academic journey, will play a central role in campus tours throughout the week. The project, which was developed by the Welding Techniques program, highlights the craftsmanship and dedication of its creators.
Lilly Lazare-Greene, Lab Development Technologist at GBC, shared her enthusiasm for the project. “After transitioning from the service industry to the Welding Techniques program at George Brown, I found stability and a rewarding career path,” Lazare-Greene said. She expressed pride in the project’s outcome, attributing its success to the talented team and their instructor, John-Allan Ellingson, who assisted with cutting the letters.
