Five outstanding students receive Tringo scholarships

Avery Williams  lost an eye to cancer at three years of age and her hearing is  impaired.

But the 19- year old Humber College student who is studying jazz performance- voice focus, is more than ever determined to make it as a singer/composer.

And on Saturday night, she impressed hundreds present at the Tringo sports club gala in Toronto with her rendition of ” Chasing Pavements.”

She was one of five outstanding students from the Caribbean community who received scholarships at the gala.

The others were as follows:

Chanell Massy of Whitby, Ontario, a student in the field of kinesiology at Texas A & M University

Jared Bolden  of  Mississauga , a student in the arts program at Sheridan  College

Shelby Dass of Toronto, a psychology student at the University of Toronto

Lavon Johnson of Ajax who is studying to be a paralegal at Durham College, Oshawa
