Former calypso monarch appointed to Trinidad and Tobago Senate

Helon Francis, the 2018 Trinidad and Tobago calypso monarch, has been appointed a senator.

He was one of four Independent senators who were sworn in at the reopening of the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament on Monday.

The others were journalist Sunity Maharaj, multidisciplinary artist Dr.Sharda Pataser and Dr.Gerard Hutchinson, professor of psychiatry at the University of West Indies.

Francis, at 29, is now the youngest parliamentarian in Trinidad and Tobago.
