Former Jamaican Prime Minister Edward Seaga has been hospitalized in Florida.
The news was confirmed by Seaga’s family.
In the statement last week, his wife, Carla said he is “receiving excellent medical care and is sustained too by the love of his family and friends.”
“We continue to pray for him and support him in his present stable environment. God bless Jamaica.”
Seaga was Prime Minister of Jamaica from 1980 to 1989, after he won a landslide victory over Michael Manley’s People’s National Party (PNP) in the October 1980 General Elections.
He also served in the JLP administration in the 1960s and currently serves as Chancellor of the University of Technology (UTech), where he was reappointed to a three-year term with effect from November 17, 2017.
He will be 89 years old on May 28.
