Former Jamaican track star George Kerr set for U of Illinois Hall of Fame

University is looking for his family and relatives

Jamaican George Kerr

The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics recently named track and field star George Kerr as a member of the UI Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023. Kerr, who competed for the British West Indies in 1960 and Jamaica in 1964, was an NCAA Champion middle-distance runner and an Olympic medalist.

Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, they have been unable to locate any of George Kerr’s family members or relatives. As a result, they are reaching out to the public to help in finding them.

If you have any information about George Kerr’s family or relatives, please come forward and let us know. We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may be living in Canada, the United States, or Jamaica said Kent Brown of the University of Illinois Athletics

They understand that it has been some time since George Kerr passed away in Jamaica in 2012, but they believe that it’s important to honor his legacy and achievements by inviting his family and relatives to attend the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 15, at State Farm Center.

If you have any information about George Kerr’s family and relatives, please contact Kent Brown or email him at: kwbrown3@illinois.edu Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
