10th Annual Walk With High School Graduates

The Walk With Excellence (WWE) is an annual event organized by the Blackhurst Cultural Centre, formerly A Different Booklist Cultural Centre; the local Jane Finch/BlackCreek High Schools; York-TD Community Engagement Centre (CEC); and the Toronto District School Board.

Each year over 500 graduating High School students participate from four high schools (Westview, Emery, Downsview, and CW Jefferys).  The WWE celebrates the achievements of these high school graduates and culminates with a parade into York University, symbolizing an urban rite of passage, as students transition from secondary to post-secondary education. The parade is a public demonstration of student achievement and academic excellence.

The event begins at CW Jefferys with a kick-off of student presentations. Following this is the graduating parade of 500 students to York University where a celebratory lunch and student awards are shared. This year’s parade will include the Director of the TDSB, Collen Russell-Rawlins and guests from former years. Special presentation by Shon Williams former Walk alumni and Downsview student.

All are welcome to celebrate this year’s graduates from CW Jefferys, Westview, Emery and Downsview.
