Toronto’s most creative hair and beauty extravaganza returns this spring when the Hairlicious “Beauty In You Show” takes the stage at Pickering Casino Resort on Friday, May 16. Led by veteran hairstylist and makeup artist Diana Henry, the event promises a high-energy fusion of style, performance, and community celebration like no other.

Henry, who has worked in the beauty industry for over 35 years, founded the show more than a decade ago after being inspired by the electrifying Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta. Frustrated by the lack of similar platforms in Toronto, she set out to create a homegrown showcase where local talent could shine. “It started with just me,” she told Caribbean Camera, “but it’s grown into a show featuring hairstylists, makeup artists, and performers from across the city.”

What makes Hairlicious stand out is its bold format. This isn’t just a runway show — it’s a spectacle. “We incorporate dance, drama, and storytelling into our runway presentations,” Henry explained. “Models become our canvases, and we push creative boundaries with barber battles, hair design competitions, and makeup showcases that go beyond the traditional.”

Audience members can expect interactive elements, stylish vendors selling beauty products and accessories, and an inclusive vibe that celebrates both male and female beauty artistry. “We want everyone to leave feeling inspired,” said Henry. “This show is about building our brands, our businesses, and our community.”

Adding to the excitement are seasoned DJs Love Jones and Smooth B, pioneers of Toronto’s entertainment scene since the early ‘90s. “They bring the perfect mix of classic hits and cross-cultural beats,” Henry noted, ensuring a lively atmosphere throughout the evening.

The show will be co-hosted by Michaela Palmer, a young entrepreneur known for her online magazine that champions African culture and emerging creatives in Toronto. “She’s dynamic, supportive, and always promoting local talent,” said Henry.

Tickets are now on sale, with early bird pricing already sold out. Advance tickets are available at $50, and if not sold out in advance, door tickets will be offered at $60.
