The  funds raised stand as a testament to the generosity and unity of the Jamaican diaspora and the wider Toronto community, the JCA noted.

It expressed “deep appreciation” to all who made the event possible – ” attendees, performers, sponsors, volunteers, and partners” – whose collective commitment turned the concert into both a cultural celebration and a lifeline for families affected by the storm.”

“The outpouring of generosity from our community has been nothing short of inspiring,” said Dr. Sylvanus Thompson, Chair of the Concert Planning Committee.

“The funds raised through the Hope for Jamaica Hurricane Melissa Benefit Relief Concert will make a meaningful difference in helping families recover and rebuild. We are deeply grateful to everyone who stepped forward to support Jamaica in this time of need,” he noted.

An online fundraising effort “remains open” and the JCA is encouraging ongoing contributions as Jamaica begins the long road to recovery.

In addition to monetary donations, the Association continues to accept essential supplies such as non-perishable food, hygiene products, baby items, and household necessities.

Donations can be dropped off at the Jamaican Canadian Centre, 995 Arrow Road in Toronto. All proceeds and goods collected will be delivered to Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), ensuring assistance reaches the communities most affected by Hurricane Melissa.
