Interac Corp. has announced a partnership with the Federation of African Canadian Economics (FACE) to launch a groundbreaking business listing map, connecting Canadians with over 8,000 Black-owned businesses nationwide.

This innovative tool aims to address the visibility challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs and support large-scale businesses in diversifying their supply chains.
The interactive map, a first of its kind at this scale, is part of a new three-year sponsorship with FACE, a Black-led non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating wealth creation within Canada’s Black community. Interac’s investment not only funds the development of the map but also supports FACE’s broader mission of catalyzing Black generational wealth creation.
Tiffany Callender, Co-Founder and CEO of FACE, expressed excitement about the partnership. He said that ” this alliance signifies a commitment to dismantling barriers and fostering an environment where Black entrepreneurs can thrive. With the support of Interac, we are addressing the challenges Black Canadians face and creating a roadmap to accelerate wealth creation.”
Despite being more likely to start businesses than any other ethnic group, Black entrepreneurs often face significant financial hurdles. A 2021 report found that Black entrepreneurs start with an average of$35,000, compared to over $100,000 for white entrepreneurs. Additionally, less than one per cent of venture capital funding goes to Black founders, hindering their ability to invest in technology and development.
Interac’s collaboration with FACE aligns with its commitment to supporting diverse small businessowners. Leo Bailey, SMB Director at Interac, stated that “we are committed to supporting business owners in building their financial and digital confidence. We are excited to support FACE’s vital work in accelerating wealth creation for Black Canadians.”
In addition to its partnership with FACE, Interac has launched initiatives such as the Dollar One Hub, providing resources for entrepreneurs, and Mindfulness &Money, an educational program in collaboration with Conscious Economics. These initiatives aim to bridge resource gaps and support entrepreneurs in building their financial literacy skills.
FACE, a national, bilingual, Black-led non-profit organization, collaborates with the Federal Government of Canada to provide resources for the Black community, including the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund, created in 2021 to help Black business owners access capital investments.
Interac empowers Canadians to transact digitally with confidence, providing payment and value exchange services. With nearly 300 financial institutions connected to its network, Interac is a leading and trusted financial brand in Canada, championing workplace culture and corporate citizenship based on the principles of responsibility, diversity and inclusion.
