The 24th Annual Agents’ Choice Awards, held at the Carlu in Toronto, celebrated the triumphs of the travel industry, drawing nearly 500 guests to the sold-out event. Among the night’s big winners was Destination Jamaica, which clinched the title of Favourite Wedding/Honeymoon Romance Destination of the Year. The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) Canada’s Business Development Manager, Emilie Giguere, was also honored with a Favourite Supplier Representative Award for her exceptional efforts and robust support to agents.
The JTB’s continuous success reflects the dedication and hard work of its Canadian team. Indira Tarachandra, Senior Assistant to the Regional Director, Canada JTB, Judy Nash, Administrative Assistant, Canada JTB, and Emilie Giguere proudly represented the board at the event.
This year’s Agents’ Choice Readership Survey, themed around momentum, saw a record number of votes from 6,983 Canadian travel advisors across 43 categories, marking a significant milestone for the industry. Jamaica’s consistent ranking as a favorite destination highlights its enduring appeal among both travel advisors and their clients seeking romance.
Donovan White, Director of Tourism, expressed his delight over Jamaica’s repeated recognition. “Destination Jamaica continues to shine because we believe and invest in the product and its offerings. We value the contribution of the travel advisors who play a critical role in selling the destination, and our recognition at Baxter Media’s Agents’ Choice Awards truly highlights that the destination is ranked among the best for an authentic and unique experience,” White noted.
Angella Bennett, Regional Director of JTB Canada, echoed these sentiments. “These awards are a tribute to the hard work and creativity of our Canadian team, for endlessly going over and above to support agents across the country,” Bennett said. “We continue to foster strong bonds within the Canadian travel community and keep them engaged and excited about what makes Jamaica so special.”
Throughout the year, Destination Jamaica engages Canadian travel advisors through various initiatives, including in-person destination updates, FAM trips, monthly contests, professional development workshops, and the Jamaica Travel Specialist incentive programme. These efforts ensure that Jamaica remains a top choice for travelers seeking unforgettable experiences.
