Jamaican Canadian musical celebration of Black History Month

Music Toronto celebrated Black History Month with a soulful performance by Jamaican-born Canadian pianist, Dr. Maria Thompson Corley. Hailed as a “superlative pianist,” Corley enchanted the audience at a downtown concert hall.

Corley’s remarkable career includes performances at iconic venues like Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York City. She’s also a prolific recording artist with albums like “Soul Sanctuary: Spirituals & Hymns” and “Soulscapes 2: Piano Music by Women of African Descent.” Currently, she serves on the piano faculty at Millersville University in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
