Jamaican farm worker dies in Canada

Logan Grant, 57, a migrant farm worker from St. James , Jamaica  died at hospital in Southern Ontario on the weekend.

Information about the circumstances of his death is sketchy but it was reported that he fell ill on Saturday and was taken to hospital  where he died about three hours later.

According to the Jamaican Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Logan was among a batch of workers who left  Jamaica for Canada on March 5.

”As is required by the Government of Canada, Mr Grant tested negative for COVID-19 prior to departing Jamaica,” the ministry said in a statement..

” The cause of death is being investigated. There is no suspicion of foul play,” it noted.

Grant was reported to have been in the  Canada Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme for more than 20 years.
