TORONTO – On Saturday, July 20th, City Councillor Anthony Perruzza proudly led a team of ten youth from the Jane-Finch area to participate in the 2024 Honda Indy. This remarkable opportunity was part of the Children’s Breakfast Club Bike Race, which saw children from across Toronto competing.

The event, organized by the Children’s Breakfast Clubs, was the biggest of its kind and featured teams led by members of the Toronto Police Service, Peel Regional Police Service, and Councillor Perruzza for the Jane-Finch area. In addition to racing, children participated in a Healthy Lifestyle program, bicycle safety workshops, and bike-building sessions.

Councillor Perruzza, a dedicated cyclist, emphasized the significance of such initiatives. “Children are our future. The habits we instill in them at a young age, they will carry with them into tomorrow. Programs like these equip the younger generation with the tools and impetus to take care of themselves, which benefits not only them but society at large,” Perruzza remarked. He expressed deep gratitude to the Children’s Breakfast Clubs for their generosity in providing this unforgettable experience for the children, believing it would have a lasting impact on their lives.

The young participants of Team Anthony Perruzza were thrilled to take part in the race and appreciative of the bicycles they received. Councillor Perruzza shared his hopes that this event would inspire the children to pursue healthy futures.

“I’m grateful that together we were able to give them this opportunity, and hopefully inspire them to have healthy futures,” said Perruzza.

This event not only offered an exciting day at the racetrack but also fostered important life skills and community engagement among the youth of the Jane-Finch area.
