There’s a Canadian connection to Jay-Z’s recent release of Magna Carta Holy Grail: 16- year-old WondaGurl, Ebony Oshunrinde, a budding producer!

One of the beats on Crown, a track on Jay-Z’s new album has scored Brampton’s Oshunrinde a production credit.

WondaGurl was the winner of Toronto’s Battle of the Beat Makers competition at 15, signed with Black Box.

The beat on Jay-Z’s album began with a reggae song she sampled and added her own twist using computer software.

In a review, album was described as: “ a grim, buzzing, fractured missive featuring inspired production work from young Toronto beatmaker Ebony “WondaGurl’ Oshunrinde.
