JN Group launches Fund for Hurricane Beryl Relief

Horace Hines

The JN Group, through its subsidiaries JN Money Services Limited and JN Cayman, has launched the I Support Jamaica Fund to provide crucial support for Jamaicans impacted by Hurricane Beryl. The JN Foundation is overseeing the fund, which also has backing from the governments of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Donations will primarily aid in the recovery of schools and community spaces.

The fund will support various entities involved in the recovery efforts, including government agencies, registered charities, community groups, and non-governmental organizations operating in the hardest-hit areas.

Donations can be made through JN Cayman, JN Money Services Cayman Limited (trading as JN Money), and JN Bank. These institutions have waived all banking and transaction fees for contributions to the relief fund. Donors can contribute via local ACH and RTGS bank transfers, international wire transfers, and money transfers through JN Money. In-person donations are also accepted at JN Cayman, JN Money locations in the Cayman Islands, and JN Bank branches in Jamaica.

A working committee, which includes representatives from the governments of the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, as well as the JN Foundation, will oversee the fund’s operations.

Horace Hines, General Manager of JN Money Services Limited, urges Jamaicans, Caymanians, and others worldwide to support this initiative. He emphasized that the fund will play a significant role in rebuilding lives and restoring hope in affected communities. The fundraising effort will continue until December 31, with the committee responsible for identifying beneficiaries and recommending fund allocations.

An online application portal will be introduced for other groups seeking funding.

“We are dedicated to assisting those impacted by Hurricane Beryl and supporting their recovery through this challenging period,” Mr. Hines said. “We will ensure transparency by publicly sharing the amount of donations raised and the impact of contributions.”

The I Support Jamaica Fund complements other JN Group initiatives for Hurricane Beryl recovery. These include the JN Bank ONE JN Hurricane Loan offers, available until August 31, and JN Money’s temporary waiver of fees on money transfers to Jamaica immediately before and after the hurricane.
