Junior Carnival Moves to Sunday Over Storm Threat

The Festival Management Committee (FMC) has announced that the 2026 Junior Carnival Parade has been rescheduled from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, due to forecasts calling for heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In a notice issued to band leaders on July 15, FMC said the decision followed consultations with key stakeholders and was made with the safety and well-being of young masqueraders, band members, volunteers, spectators, and the wider Carnival community in mind.

The organization acknowledged that the change may require adjustments for participating bands and families but emphasized that public safety remains the top priority. FMC also thanked band leaders and stakeholders for their patience, collaboration, and support throughout the decision-making process.

Despite the date change, organizers confirmed that event logistics, staging, and parade operations will remain unchanged unless otherwise communicated. Additional updates will be shared as they become available.

The Junior Carnival Parade is one of the highlights of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival season, showcasing the creativity, talent, and cultural pride of the next generation of masqueraders.
