Hats off at Union Station

Alica Hall, curator and executive director of Nia Centre for the Arts at the Here Again, At The Crossroads art exhibition at Union Station in Toronto.

The exhibition was launched on Tuesday.

Hall stands next to a 15 foot installation created by Jordan Sook ,a Toronto-based mixed media artist, The installation entitled Thank You for Keeping Us On Track, pays tribute to the Black Canadian train porters who formed the first Black railway union in North America in 1917. The sculpture comprises handcrafted hats that are inspired by those worn by the porters.

The exhibit features mixed-media artist, Jordan Sook, award-winning photographer Andre Wagner and acclaimed Queer Afro-Indigenous poet, Jayda Marley. At the event, you’ll get a chance to speak with them directly about their pieces and the impact and meaning behind the exhibit.

The exhibition  will be live online and in Union Station until May 31.
