
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -For the second year in a row, Fifth Element band leader and designer Kevin Small took home the Robert Weekes award for Best Festival Designer at Kadooment.

The top prize for his “Street Talk” band includes a vehicle from McNearney Quality Inc. and $7 500.
Winning a slew of awards including Presentation of the Year, Small Band of the Year, Most Colourful Small Band of the Year, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Traditional, Community Costume and Individual Male, he also placed second for the Historical award and finished third for Best Band on the Road.
Well-known bandleader Gwyneth Squires “Paint Me a Paradise” was second for Best Festival Designer, placed third, second and second in the Historical, Topical and Best Band on the Road categories respectively.
