Peeks Toronto Caribbean carnival will stage two major events before the grand parade on Saturday.
This evening the 2017 King and Queen Showcase will be held at Allan Lamport Stadium,1155 King St West in Toronto and tomorrow evening the Pan Alive steelband competition will take place at the same venue.
According to a release from the organizers of the carnival, the King and Queen Showcase “ will be bigger and more spectacular than ever with special presentations highlighting the 50th anniversary of Carnival in Toronto. “
Thirty-three costumes will be presented by 11 mas“ bands and there will a live program of entertainment. Included on the program are calypsonians David Rudder and Shurwayne Winchester and the A team band from Trinidad and Tobago.
At Pan Alive, more than a dozen steelbands will be competing.
