Leadpipe Wins 2025 Crop Over Road March

The crescendo of Barbados’ Crop Over season came to a roaring finale on Grand Kadooment Day, where one anthem soared above the rest. Leadpipe, the veteran soca artist known offstage as Osvaldo Reid, has claimed the coveted Road March crown for 2025 with his commanding hit “Tek Charge” — a track that captured the heart and energy of the festival.

Pulsing through the speakers of music trucks and echoing in the chants of masqueraders draped in feathers and glitter, “Tek Charge” played 18 times at official judging points, outpacing all rivals and sealing Leadpipe’s third Road March title. The win cements his place among the giants of Barbadian soca.

“This one means everything,” Leadpipe told reporters after the announcement. “It’s for the people; they took charge with me. Crop Over is more than music. It’s love, it’s culture, it’s freedom.”

The infectious single had been a fixture at fetes and parties throughout the season, its booming chorus and relentless rhythm creating a wave of energy that reached its peak on the parade route. From the very first beat, it was clear that “Tek Charge” was the anthem of the season, not just a popular song, but a cultural force.

Still, the Road March race was not without fierce competition. Jordan English, one of soca’s rising stars, made a bold statement with his entry “Darkers,” which tallied 11 plays. English earned second place and a cash prize of $5,000, further proving his growing influence with younger fans and his ability to balance modern sound with traditional Crop Over vibes.

Soca stalwart Lil Rick secured third place with his track “Dial 911,” which registered four plays at judging points and earned a $2,000 prize. Known for his crowd-moving magic and stage dominance, Lil Rick’s continued presence in the top ranks speaks to his unmatched staying power in a constantly evolving genre.

But 2025 belonged to Leadpipe. More than just a Road March win, “Tek Charge” became a unifying chant, blaring through sound systems, danced to in backyards and on the road, and shared across social media platforms by Bajan revellers at home and abroad.

With this latest victory, Leadpipe’s legacy in Barbadian music culture grows ever deeper. “Tek Charge” will be remembered not only as the winning tune, but as the spirit of Crop Over 2025 , bold, joyous, and unapologetically Bajan.
