Live comedy, Stand-Up Stitches, this Saturday

Live at The Rose Brampton

Stand-Up Stitches is delighted to be back for an incredible LIVE comedy show on Saturday, April 9th at 8pm at The Rose Brampton. Hosted and produced by Keesha Brownie. Stand-Up Stitches will feature Harpreet Sehmbi, Alex Wood, Crystal Ferrier, Marc Trinidad, and Moe Ismail.

The comedy was created by Montreal-born Brampton-raised comedian Keesha Brownie in 2020 to highlight homegrown talent within the community and connect with other talents globally.

The lineup:

Harpreet Sehmbi

Harpreet Sehmbi: A Toronto-based comedian, writer, actor, and brunch enthusiast. She’s an alumna of Second City Toronto’s Longform Improvisation and Sketch Conservatory programs and regularly performs stand-up all over North America. Harpreet headlined Wisconsin’s Lady Laughs Comedy Festival and the Chicago Women’s Funny Festival and was featured in the North Carolina Comedy Festival, New Jersey’s 6th Borough Comedy Festival, and Toronto’s Wavelength Music Festival.

You can catch Harpreet starring in a web series she created called INDE-pendent, performing at Absolute Comedy, and still trying to figure out left from right. Watch out for Harpreet’s first half-hour comedy album that’ll be released in 2022!

Alex Wood: At a youngish age, Alex Wood is already a stand-up comedy veteran. His high-energy style mixes finely tuned jokes and storytelling. He’s performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival 3 times. Once in 2009 for The Homegrown Show where he was featured in the Montreal Gazette’s “Best of the Fest” article.  He made his return in 2017 taping at Kevin Hart’s “LOL Network” and was named one of the “Canadian Acts You Need to Know” by Interrobang. In 2020 he recorded a Just for Laughs Gala for CBC. Alex has performed across North America and been featured on SiriusXM, CBC Radio and JFL42 in Toronto.  His debut book was released to critical acclaim in 2021.

Crystal Ferrier

Crystal Ferrier: The first Indian woman to headline Kenny Robinson’s Nubian Disciples of Pryor and an addition to Kevin Hart’s LOL network, Crystal is one to watch out for. By day, this SuperWoman is a Behavioural Therapist. By night, she is an actress, comedian, writer and producer. Also a mother of two, this funny mummy’s real-life, raw comedic personality is unforgettable and will captivate anyone who falls in her company.

Marc Trinidad: The first Canadian to appear on BET ComicView, was featured on the Comedy Network. Now Magazine rated him as ‘One to watch’, voted Best Comic ‘Soul’d Out Comedy Festival, winner of the Brantford Comedy Festival 2019 and is in rotation at Sirius XM. Not satisfied with wowing crowds across Canada, he’s toured the Netherlands, the UK, the US and the Caribbean.  Armed with a versatile and wide ranging repertoire, new fans are routinely shocked by his unique island man swagger with razor sharp Canadian wit and timing.

Moe Ismail: Stand-up comedian Moe Ismail has been touring across Canada and the U.S. for over a decade. His comedic style has often been described as energetic, diverse, and most of all, raw. Moe has been featured on the Just For Laughs 42 Festival, NXNE Festival, and SiriusXM. His material draws from his experiences as an Egyptian immigrant growing up in Canada, being an elementary school teacher, along with various life struggles and finding humour in the hardest of times.
