Local cricket season opens this weekend

Scarborough Cricket Association 2016 cricket season kicks off this weekend with several matches.

In the Elite division 50 overs competition, introduced this season, four matches are scheduled. On Saturday, Toronto Smashers Cricket Club will play Scarborough Cricket Club at Terry Fox Park while Highland Creek Cricket Club ‘A’ will take on defending champions and six-time Premier division title holders Hawaiian Arctic Cricket Club at L’amoreaux Cricket Ground.

On Sunday, it’s TP Tigers Cricket Club vs Bawa XI Cricket Club ‘A’ at Ashtonbee 2 and Victoria Park ‘A’ vs Scarborough Cricket Club at Ashtonbee 1.

In the Premier division, three games are scheduled for this weekend. On Saturday, Toronto Cricketers Sports Club vs Fairtree Cricket Club at Ashtonbee 3 and on Sunday, Islanders United Sports Club vs Deccan Hawks Cricket Club at Terry Fox Park and Bawa XI Cricket Club ‘B’ vs Durham United Cricket Club at Ashtonbee 3.

In Toronto & District Cricket Association this Saturday in the Premier division of the Pompey conference, Victoria Park CC (A) vs Mississauga Dolphins at King City and on Sunday four matches are scheduled.

In the Ward conference of the Premier division, four matches will be played on Saturday and three on Sunday.

Matches are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in the first division of the Chappell and Walker conferences.

The second, third and fourth divisions (40 overs) competition will also start on Saturday and matches will also be played on Sunday.
