Markham man wins $100,000 playing Encore

Daniel Mentore

Daniel Mentore, a 73-year-old retiree from Markham, won $100,000 playing Encore.

Mentore matched six of his last seven Encore numbers in exact order in the April 21 lottery draw.

He plans to “save his winnings for now.”

Mentore said he was checking his tickets at a store when he discovered his “big win.” When the lottery terminal displayed the amount he won, he called his wife over to check it out.

He said “at first glance, she thought it said $1,000. So I told her to look again.

“When she saw it was $100,000, she was shocked!”

Mentore said this not his first “big win.”

In 1999, he took home $17,000 when he and a group of four others won $85,000 playing Super 7.
